General weather information and climate
October in Germany is part of the autumn season, characterized by cooler temperatures and variable weather. Here’s what you can expect as well as some packing tips to help you prepare:Temperature Range:- Average Highs: 10°C to 15°C (50°F to 59°F)
- Average Lows: 3°C to 8°C (37°F to 46°F)

You can change the language and other settings on the settings page - Popular (German) Apps for Android and Apple devices are “Wetter Radar” (weather forecast in general) and “Regen Radar” (rain forecast).
Leading to… Packing Recommendations
General- Passport and/or national ID-card (check validity, often 6 months after the journey is required). You should have an ID on you at all times.
- Drivers licence if you plan to rent a car – an international driver’s license preferably.
- Bank cards (ATM, credit card): check the limits and check for limitations on continents/countries. Can you transfer money on the way, if needed (token, special list)? See Currency and Payment Options.
- Bring the medication you normally use. Best to have a doctor's statement about the prescriptions and carry them in their original package.
- Germany uses 230 Volt, 50Hz and plug types C and F. Bring an adapter if needed. See Electrical Devices and Power.
- European health insurance card (if you have one) or other proof of insurance for medical costs. Also check if the coverage is enough for German price level. Consider travel insurance, especially if you are travelling long distances.
- Bring cash, coins, to tip.
- Earplugs
- Reusable Water Bottle: Staying hydrated is important, and many places in Germany have clean drinking water.
- Backpack or Bag: For carrying layers, umbrellas, and other essentials while exploring.
- Layered Clothing: Layering is essential to adjust to varying temperatures throughout the day:
- Base Layers: Long-sleeve shirts, light sweaters, and t-shirts.
- Middle Layers: Sweaters, fleece jackets, or cardigans for warmth.
- Outer Layers: A medium-weight jacket or coat, preferably waterproof or water-resistant, for colder days and potential rain.
- Rain Gear: An umbrella and a waterproof jacket are advisable to stay dry during rainy spells.
- Footwear: Comfortable walking shoes are a must for exploring the city. Waterproof shoes or boots can be useful for rainy days.
- Accessories:
- Scarves, Hats, and Gloves: These can be useful for early mornings and evenings when temperatures can drop.
- Sunglasses: Despite the cooler weather, there can still be sunny days.
